PSC Tema Shipyard workers assured of government's support The Minister of Transport, Fiifi Kwetey, has assured aggrieved workers of the PSC Tema Shipyard of government’s support in urgently resolving their grievances. The Minister said he will collaborate with Management and Union to delve into the issues that led to the dismissal of two of the Union leaders. The dismissal led to calls by the workers for the removal of the Chief Executive of the Shipyard and some management staff. Mr. Kwetey gave the assurance when he visited the Shipyard as part of his tour of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority. About 200 Technical Staff of the Company besieged the administration block to welcome the Minister and his entourage amidst singing, with red bands around their wrists and necks. The workers refused to return to work unless the Minister assured them that their colleagues would be reinstated. Mr.Kwetey explained that it is the government’s vision that the Tema Shipyard will become the best in the Sub-region and this can only be achieved when peace prevails. GBC
