IGP Urges Personnel To Be Conversant With Electoral Laws In Order To Deal With Breaches The Inspector General of Police, John Kudalor, has urged Police personnel to be conversant with electoral laws to be able to isolate breaches and deal with them accordingly. This, he said would avoid unnecessary interference in the electoral process at the polling stations and collation centres. He said the presiding officers and polling agents are in charge of the centres and would only request the Police to intervene in an issue when necessary. Mr Kudalor was speaking at a durbar of personnel of the Brong-Ahafo Regional Police Command at Abesim near Sunyani. The IGP and his entourage had already visited the Upper West, Upper East and Northern Regions as part of his nationwide working visit to the ten regions to acquaint himself with the preparations of the commands towards this year's election. He charged the officers to be professional in maintaining law and order for peace and harmony to prevail in the country. The IGP said it is the duty of the police to ensure that all eligible voters are well-protected to cast their votes peacefully without fear of intimidation during the November polls. The Brong Ahafo Regional Commander, DCOP, Maxwell Atingane, said district security taskforces have been formed to promote peace in the Region. He said the Command has taken delivery of 23 motorbikes for distribution to the patrol teams to intensify patrols in the region and urged the public to be law-abiding to augment the work of the Police for a just and peaceful society.
