Mine workers call for transparency Members of the Ghana Mine workers Union have urged the government to use the Anglogold Ashanti concession released recently to the state to revamp the economics of local communities especially Obuasi. A statement signed by the General Secretary of the Union, Prince William Ankrah it asked the government to be firm, fair and transparent as it prepares to invite investors to develop the concession. The Union believes that the ultimate goal of attracting potential investors into the concession is to ensure economic activities for sustained growth in the beneficiary communities. It urged government for prioritize capacity building to small scale mines to enable them to become captains of the mining industry in future. The Union warned against activities of illegal mines in the concessions in order not to undermine investor confidence in the mining sector. GBC
