EC tasked to increase publicity on on-going limited voter registration

The Electoral Commission has been tasked to increase publicity on the on going limited voter registration.  

This follows low voter turn-out on the first day of the 4-day exercise. 

While some political parties blame this on   poor preparedness of the EC, others think otherwise. 

First is the NDC's Director of Elections, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, who commends the EC for the exercise and talked about NDC's support in terms of publicity.

The General Secretary of the PNC, Atik Mohammed expressed concern at the poor publicity preceding the voters registration.  He also condemned the requirement that a new registrant has to bring guarantors to authenticate the age.  

He believes this law is unnecessary since it is not an authentic way of checking someone's right age.

NPP's Director of Elections, Martin Adjei Mensah Korsah highlighted irregularities such as wrong data entries incorrect date of issuing registration cards and place of registration among other issues especially in the Ashanti and Eastern regions.  

This development, Mr. Korsah fears if not rectified immediately could disenfranchise many voters in the party's strongholds.
