Rains Render More Than One Thousand Homeless In Salaga One thousand two hundred and eighteen people have been rendered homeless following a severe rainstorm that hit Salaga in the East Gonja District of the Northern Region yesterday. Property worth thousands of Ghana cedis including 187 residential facilities and 6 institutions were destroyed. The affected intuitions include, the District Post Office, 31st Junior High Schools and Imania primary schools. Four people who sustained minor injuries have been discharged from the Salaga government hospital. The East Gonja District NADMO Coordinator, Alhaji Umar Alhassan who visited the affected houses to ascertain the state of damage described the incident as a disaster. He said the affected people are currently living with relatives and friends, and NADMO is working around the clock to provide the victims with emergency relief items. He appealed to NGOs, philanthropists and religious bodies to come to the aid of the victims. Some of the victims who spoke with GBC's Radio Ghana appealed for urgent support to alleviate their plight.
