Ayensuano District achieves a lot in development

The Ayensuano District Chief Executive, Mr Mike Ofori Darko, has expressed happiness at the tremendous improvement of the district due to the effort of the assembly.

He said this was achieved through measures put in place to provide the necessary basic economic infrastructure such as roads and markets to facilitate the movement of goods and people as well as trade in the district.
     
Mr Darko made the observation during the assembly’s first ordinary meeting at Coaltar to review its activities over the past year.
     
He said there had been enhancement in the internally generated revenue which stood at GH¢402,991 at the end of 2015, relative to a target of GH¢428,890.00, representing 94 per cent.
     
Mr Darko said the agriculture sector, the life blood of the district’s economy, saw significant improvement due to the introduction of modern technology into farming by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, adding that; “this was witnessed at the Farmers’ Day Celebration in December last year.”

He said this came about as a result of visits carried out by the agriculture extension agents of the Department of Agriculture, training of farmers and forums. 

Other interventions were animal health activities, sustainable land use and management, food supply and pricing, crop and livestock disease control and pest surveillance, monitoring of special demonstrations and programmes.

Mr Darko said the local food outlets increased from 18 in 2014 to 21 in 2015.
     
He said the district did not experience any major food deficit apart from rice and fish which were supplemented through imports from other districts.
      
Mr Darko commended the Finance Officer of the Assembly, Mr Alfred Tei Nartey, the Co-ordinating Director, Alhaji Mohammed A. Akape, the Presiding Member, Mr Amaadi Antwi Edward and the staff of the Assembly for their efforts in furthering the development of the district.
