Deportation of refugees from Greece to Turkey begins Police on the Greek island of Lesbos have starting putting refugees on boats bound to Turkey, the first people to be deported under a European Union plan to stem the flow of refugees to Europe. Reports say two Turkish ferries on Lesbos and another one on Chios are to pick up the refugees, and that they would be escorted by police from the EU border agency Frontex. Turkish Interior Minister Efkan Ala says his country is ready to receive 500 refugees today but the Greek authorities have provided 400 names, although these numbers could change. The European Union signed deal with Turkey in March as it wrestles with the continent's worst refugee crisis since World War II, with more than a million people arriving last year. SOURCE: ALJAZEERA
