4th April, 2016 The Daily Graphic says fire just like electricity can be very good servants if the rules governing their use are observed. According to the paper, last Thursday's fire disaster at Vienna City Night Club in Accra could have been averted if precautionary measures were followed. The Graphic expects the GNFS to drag the owners of Vienna City to court for operating the facility without functional fire extinguishers. The GNFS must also apply the law to its fullest to convince the public that it has the teeth to bite and that time for barking is over. The Ghanaian Times comments on indiscipline in schools, urges education authorities to continue punishing trouble makers in schools to prevent others from indulging in such acts. The paper believes that in every social setting there are people who breech the laid down rules. However, the alarming rate at which students have become wayward gives cause for concern. The paper says though there are several reasons for which the students engage in such acts. These include mistreatment of student by some school authorities. The Times considers this unacceptable, as it engenders anger and rebellion among students. It therefore accepts the concern expressed by the Deputy Director-General of the Ghana Education Service, Dr Stephen Adu, who also found teachers partly blamable for fueling indiscipline in the schools. The Times therefore suggests that where there are students' riots, the education authorities should not stop punishing these trouble causers and also to delve deep to unearth the root cause and sanction teachers whose actions might have led to the not. The Daily Heritage says it fully embraces the new technology being put in place to check examination malpractices by the West African Examinations Council, WAEC. According to the paper, the new security system will prevent leakage of examination papers in this year's WASSCE and subsequent examinations. The Heritage entreats each and every one who will have a hand in making sure this system works to do it with perfection. GBC
