Eastern Regional Minister pledges support for "Stop Crime campaign"
   

The Eastern Regional Minister, Mavis Ama Frimpong, has pledged the support of the Eastern Regional Co-ordinating Council towards the launch of the National Stop Crime Campaign.

The campaign is being championed by Ambassador Extraordinaire of Prisons, Ibrahim Oppong Kwarteng, a staff of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, (GBC).

Ms Frimpong made the pledge when the Prisons Ambassador called on her in Koforidua to appeal for support for the maiden launch of "Stop Crime campaign" to be held in the Eastern Region.  

She said the initiative has the capacity to significantly reduce crime in the country, particularly in the Eastern Region which had a high crime rate.

Ms Frimpong was particularly happy that the Ghana Education Service has given the green light for the Ambassador Extraordinaire of Prisons to screen prison documentaries in pre-tertiary institutions across the country.

She lauded Mr Kwarteng for coming up with the National Stop Crime Campaign and urged stakeholders in crime prevention to support the initiative.

Mr Kwarteng promised the Minister that the campaign will be launched in the Eastern Region after the national launch in Accra to sensitise the people on the need to refrain from criminal activities that could send them to prison.
