Government To Release Gh¢1.5 Million For Payment Of Arrears Of Teachers

Government and the three Teacher Unions have agreed on a road map for the payment of their salary arrears.  

The move follows intense negotiations between both parties for three conservative days.  

To this end, the Minister of Finance will release one point five million Ghana Cedis (Gh¢1.5M) with immediate effect to the Ghana Education Service (GES) for the payment of the 2012 transfer grant allowances by Monday, the 29th of this month.  

The Minister of Employment and Labour Relations, Haruna Iddrisu, announced this in a communique signed between government and the Teacher Unions.
