Newmont agrees on equitable share of mining benefits

The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources has concluded a re-negotiated agreement with Newmont Mining Corporation.

Speaking to Radio Ghana, the sector minister, Nii Osah Mills said the agreement is to let all major stakeholders to equitably share the benefits that mining brings, while ensuring the long term sustainability of the mining industry.

He said the agreement was submitted to parliament in June this year and was ratified this month.

Nii Osah Mills noted that new agreement is fair, responsible and sustainable as it the addresses the long term interest of Ghanaians.
