Northern Chiefs asked to resolve Bunkpurugu Chieftaincy dispute One of the gates in the prolonged chieftaincy dispute in Bunkpurugu in the Northern Region has warned individuals who are masterminding the conflict for their parochial interests to desist. According to the head of the Jafoak Family in Tamale, Chamba Kombat Kampiiti, the disputes have claimed lives and deprived the area of development. Late last month, two people including a 70-year-old man died as a result of renewed clashes, with the police yet to make any arrests. Mr. Kampiiti said these recurring situations are not healthy for the community. Speaking at a news conference in Tamale, he called on the judiciary Committee of the Northern regional House of Chiefs to speed up the process of bringing an end to the case which has been in court for almost a decade.
