Tema District Council of Labour Up In Arms With PURC Over Tariff Increase

 
Workers in Tema, under the Tema District Council of Labour will from today wear red bands and hoist red flags at their offices to demand that the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission, PURC, rescind it's decision to increase tariffs.

Following an emergency meeting in Tema on Thursday, the Chairman of the Tema District Council of Labour, Wilson Agana told Radio Ghana that since the PURC has decided not to listen to their plea after two letters to that effect, it has taken this decision and will follow it up with a massive demonstration in January next year.

He said it is disheartening that most employers in Tema have refused to give bonuses to its workers, attributing the situation to the current energy crises.
