Communications Minister describes Current Voters’ register Ghana’s best ever Ghana’s Communications Minister Dr Edward Omane Boamah has described the current Voters register as the best the country has ever had. According to him, the opposition New Patriotic Party, (NPP) is pushing for a fresh register because of their own ulterior motives. The main opposition New Patriotic Party and the Let My Vote Count Alliance (LMVC) have been at the forefront of the call for a fresh register ahead of the 2016 elections. They are seeking support from recognisable institutions and civil society groups to push for a new voters register. They contend that the current register flawed and unfit for next year’s elections. But addressing an NDC rally in Koforidua last Saturday, the Minister said the NPP has an agenda with the persistent demand for a new voters register. “The 2012 register is the best Ghana has ever had and therefore there is no need to change it,” he stated. Meanwhile, President John Mahama who also spoke at the rally denied claims by the NPP that he called for a fresh register for Togo when they were going to their elections. GBC
