TOR workers to put back October salary to revive the company



Management of the Tema Oil Refinery, TOR, in consultation with workers have agreed that their October salaries be deferred in order to bail the company from financial bondage. 

The agreement, which was reached during a durbar has been documented and the monies will be re-funded at an appropriate date. 

This was disclosed by a close source at the Refinery when Radio Ghana’s Tema Correspondent, Yvette Adu Effisah visited the company on Friday October 16 2015.  

According to the source, senior staffs are shedding off 40 percent of their salaries whiles junior staffs will forego 20 percent. 

The source indicated that workers were informed by the Managing Director, Kweku Awauh-Darko that all efforts are being made to restore the company to its former glory and as such, the forfeiture of the salaries of the staff is one of such interventions. 

To revive the plant, the informant said TOR is securing the license to also operate as a Bulk Distribution Company to fill its storage tanks, adding that workers are currently going through an orientation at a center within the plant.
