President Mahama Optimistic Ghana Can End Extreme Poverty By 2030

Heads of state across the globe have renewed their commitment to end extreme poverty and hunger amongst their people. 

In Ghana, the three regions of the north are governments focus as these regions are cited as the poorest and hunger stricken in Ghana. 

At a flag raising ceremony to commemorate the 35th world food day in Accra, Food and Agriculture Minister, Fiifi Kwetey said the levels of poverty and hunger among rural people is unacceptable in an era of scientific and technological advancement. 

Government has therefore responded to the alarming statistics with the resolve to fight food insecurity and end poverty. 

Ahead of the World Bank 'End of Poverty' Report launch, President Mahama has asked the World Bank to extend a new programme such as SADA to the Savannah Regions of Africa. 

According to him, the programme can transform the Agriculture Sector and make Africa the food basket of the world. 

He was speaking after he met the World Bank President, Jim Yong Kim.
