President Mahama to join World Bank Boss to launch poverty report President John Dramani Mahama will be joined by the President of the World Bank, Jim Yong Kim tomorrow to launch the "end of poverty" report in Accra. The launch of the event is a first step towards drawing up national plans to end extreme poverty by 2030. At the last UN General Assembly in New York, countries signed onto a new set of sustainable development goals, which many have described as ambitious. The World Bank President Jim Yong Kim will be accompanied by development partners, innovators and Civil Society leaders to reflect on the common measures adopted by Ghana to reduce poverty and highlight what is needed for further progress. Ghana's economy continues to be challenged due to a number of internal fiscal factors like debt burden and external shocks including falling commodity prices. Over the years, the World Bank Group has supported Ghana with more than two billion dollars. The World Bank Group, has promised to continue to offer governments support for their works to eradicate poverty in the form of shared knowledge, innovative financing and capacity building. GBC
