Ghana's inflation rate rises to 17.4% in September

Inflation for the month of September slightly increased to 17.4 percent from 17.3 Percent in August.

This means that the general price level went up by 0.1 percent between August and September.

The inflation rate measures the average rise in the prices of all consumer goods and services in the country.

The main price drivers for the non-food inflation rate were recreation and culture (29.0%), education (29.6%), transport (23.8%), clothing and footwear (24.9%), furnishings, household equipment and routine maintenance (24.9%) and housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (23.4%).

The Upper West, Ashanti, Greater Accra and Central regions recorded higher inflation rates than the national average of 17.4 percent.

While the Brong Ahafo region recorded the same inflation rate as the national average of 17.4 percent.
