12 out of 26 District Assemblies don't have Presiding Members- EC Deputy Regional Director



The Eastern Regional Directorate of the Electoral Commission say 12 out of the 26 District and Municipal Assemblies do not have their Presiding Members to preside over their sittings because they could not elect them during the inauguration of the Assemblies last Tuesday October 6th.

A Deputy Regional Director of the Electoral Commission, Gabriel Dei, explained that all the contestants in the affected Districts and Municipalities failed to obtain the two –thirds majority votes required by  the constitution.

The affected Assemblies include Fanteakwa, Akuapim- South, Denkyembour, Kwaebibirem and Ayensuano Districts. The others are  Suhum , Nsawam -Adoagyiri and West and East Akim Municipalities.

Mr.Dei, expressed the hope that the affected assemblies will all do their homework well and elect their Presiding Members to make them whole and start performing their functions including the preparation of a composite budget.
