UN chief condemns terrorist attack on peaceful march in Turkey


A deadly bomb attack during a peaceful gathering in Turkey on Saturday has been condemned by the UN Secretary-General.
Nearly 90 people were reportedly killed in the incident, which occurred in the capital, Ankara.

The UN Secretary-General expects the perpetrators of the terrorist bombings to be swiftly brought to justice, according to a statement issued by his spokesperson.

At least 86 people reportedly died and more than 180 were injured when two bombs exploded during a peace rally in the Turkish capital on Saturday morning.

No one has immediately claimed responsibility.

Ban Ki-moon sent his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, and to the people and government of Turkey.

He also wished a speedy recovery to those wounded in the attack.
