Implement new minimum wage or be sanctioned - Government

Government says it will no longer tolerate institutions that flout the Labour Law by not paying employees the required minimum wage.

Employment and Labour Relations Minister, Haruna Iddrisu, who gave the warning said the practice is criminal and its effect hinders productivity. 

Speaking at the formal announcement of the national minimum wage in Accra, Mr. Iddrisu said his Ministry expects all employers to respect and abide by the new minimum wage which has been increased from seven to eight cedis a day.
