Deadly Afghan Hospital Air Strike A Mistake - US General

The American commander of international forces in Afghanistan says, the deadly air strike that hit a hospital in the Afghan provincial capital of Kunduz was a mistake.

US Army General, John Campbell in a statement to the Senate Armed Services Committee said the decision to carry out the strike was made within the US chain of command.

He said the hospital was mistakenly struck adding that it was never intentional to target a protected medical facility.
