Political Scientist charges EC to do self-appraisal of operations to ensure 2016 election results are credible 

A Senior Lecturer at the Political Science Department of the University of Ghana, Dr Evans Aggrey-Darko says for the results of the 2016 general elections to be fair and acceptable to all, the Electoral Commission, the supervising body would have to up its game and do a critical self-appraisal or audit of its work to deliver on its mandate.

Speaking to Radio Ghana in Accra, Dr Evans Aggrey-Darko said failure on the part of the EC has the potential of throwing the country into chaos.

The NPP has meanwhile lauded the institution of the 10 member committee to examine proposed reforms to the electoral system.

The Director of Elections at the Party Headquarters, Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah told Radio Ghana that the EC has no excuse to carry out poor elections in 2016 because it has had adequate funding in the past and would hopefully get same for next year's elections.

The NDC Technical Advisor for Biometric and Election Management of the Party, Dr Ahmed Gedel called for comprehensive reforms that will prevent problems like double voting and an electoral register fraught with problems for the 2016 elections.
