Withdraw Petroleum Exploration And Production Bill Before Parliament - NGO Appeals To Gov’t The Ghana Institute of Governance and Security, (GIGS ) an NGO, is appealing to President Mahama, to as a matter of urgency withdraw the Petroleum Exploration and Production Bill currently before Parliament. This is because the current mode of sharing oil resources deprives the country of benefits to be derived from oil and gas resources and also does not conform to the UN Charter on Permanent Sovereignty over Natural Resources. A Research Officer at the institute, Solomon Kwawukume, who expressed these sentiments at a media conference in Accra, said independent experts must be invited, to review the draft bill, to reflect Production Sharing Agreements that about 81 oil producing countries have adopted.
