6th January, 2015 The Daily Graphic lauds the Ghana Police Service for a good job done during the Christmas festivities. The paper is however worried about disasters in 2015, as Accra alone has already recorded three devastating fire outbreaks. The Graphic is concerned about the country’s capacity to deal with such disasters, despite government’s quest to re-equip the Ghana National Fire Service. It says there is the need for auxiliary support, such as functional fire hydrants, to make the fight against fire disasters more efficient. The Ghanaian Times has decried the series of fire outbreaks at the beginning of this year in parts of the country. The paper is worried over the unfortunate incidents especially with the loss of human lives. The Times implores industrial establishments and factories to install proper fire response mechanisms to provide early warnings of fire outbreaks. The paper therefore urges all to be on the alert since fire outbreaks are causing untold hardships and serious harm to the society. The Today Newspaper says it duly agrees with those who are asking for prayers for the President since the task of the presidency is enormous. The paper wonders whether President Mahama himself has openly admitted that the task of running the country is huge and for that matter wants Ghanaians to remember him in prayers. To the Paper, what the President needs is the support of everybody not prayers per se, but how to dialogue with technocrats and the opposition parties to help move the country forward. GBC
