Savelugu: Transport Day Celebrated To Create Road Safety Awareness Ghana spent about $ 419 million on accident victims in 2009. Those who suffered most were between the ages of 15 and 55. This was revealed at the Public Transport Day celebrated in Savelugu by the Manager of the National Road Safety Commission, Alexander Ayata Attibo. He said that Ghana records an average of six thousand accident deaths daily with 1,000 injuries. Mr Attibo said it is for this reason that the Public Transport Day was instituted to create awareness among road users to save lives. He urged passengers to speak up when a driver goes wrong to avoid accidents on the roads. The Deputy Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji A.B.A Fuseini also cautioned under aged children who ride motorcycles on the roads. GBC
