Experts push for more incentives for farmers in rice production Speakers at the Post Budget Forum on the provision in the 2015 budget have emphasised the need to shift more focus to production, to give more incentives to farmers who produce crops that the country has comparative advantage in. This they say must come in the form of subsidies to farmers especially in rice production. The President of the National Farmers and Fishermen Award Winners Association, Philip Ababyori raised issues with EDIAF and the increased assistance to industries rather than farmers. Director of Statistics and Research at Ministry of Agriculture, Harrison Opoku acknowledged the views shared by the President of the National Farmers and Fishermen Award Winners Association, Philip Abayori and also identified some areas that must be improved to enhance agriculture production in Ghana.
