Health Ministry advocates revision of allocation formula for NHIS Fund

The Minister of Health, Dr Kweku Agyeman-Mensah, has advocated a revision of the allocation formula for the release of the National Health Insurance Fund because it has fallen short of the requirement since 2009.

He said the situation is so dire that a hundred percent release even in advance would not address the funding gap in the Scheme.

Dr Agyeman Mensah made the remark in parliament when he briefed the lawmakers on the status of the NHIS.

He said the Ministry has released almost all reported collections to the fund but it still remains inadequate.
