Burkina Faso declares Michel Kafando interim president Burkina Faso has named former foreign minister, Michel Kafando, as transitional President in an important step towards returning to democracy after a brief military takeover. Mr. Kafando was chosen as part of a charter drawn after President Blaise Compaore was toppled on October 31 in mass protests.
