Rural Electrification Project Inaugurated at Jakpan Kpone
 

A one hundred thousand Ghana cedis Rural Electrification Project has been inaugurated at Jakpankpone in the Yendi Municipality of Northern Region.

Over 700 people of the community will benefit from the project which will also be extended to other communities in the area.

The Yendi Municipal Chief Executive Mr. Issah Zakaria who inaugurated the project on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama said a lot of communities in the Municipality will soon be connected to the national grid since all the electric poles have been erected.

Mr. Zakaria said some of the communities include Tumakanyili, Kpanjehe, Kuni, Kpalgagbini, Kulinkpenduli including others.
 
According to the Municipal Chief Executive the project is part of the Rural Electrification Project which was launched by Late President Attah Mills at Kpalkore in the Mion District of Northern Region.

He said there are a lot of projects in education, Energy, roads, health, Agriculture among others and there is always rivalry between communities if they don’t benefit from some of the projects.

He said this is the reason why the Government is making efforts to let every community have their share of the national cake. He said as the community is hoked to the national grid they will benefit a lot by milling their grains, sheanuts, and school children using it for studies, charging their phones, selling of ice water among others. 

He announced that Government has spent over GHC 100,000.00 on the project and they should use it for the purpose it has been provided for.

Mr. Zakaria said the Kamshegu CHPS Compound which they attend is also to be hoked to the national grid within the week. He advised them that as families who live together in the same compounds they should always cooperate to pay their bills promptly without disconnecting.

The Yendi Municipal Supervisor of Volta River Authority (VRA) Mr. Manu Agyemang advised them that whenever they are going to their farms they should put off their lights because whenever the lights are on the Meter records it for them to pay more bills.

Mr. Agyemang advised them not to use heaters because that will let them pay for more bills. He warned them not to allow their children to touch the naked electricity wires. He appealed to them to always weed around the low tension poles so that bush fires don’t destroy them.

The Chief of Jakpankpone Ubor Magidaa Jakpankpone commended the NDC Government for connecting the community to the national grid. Ubor Magidaa said there is unity between his community and other communities in the area. 

He appealed to Assembly and the Feeder Roads to rehabilitate their road which links Kamshegu to Yendi. 

The Municipal Chief Executive was accompanied by the Yendi Municipal Coordinating Director Mr. Sarfo Kantanka, Budget officer, Engineer and the Planning Officer of the Assemly.
