Government to close down witches camp to protect inmates

Government is putting in place steps to close down all witches camps across the country as part of efforts to protect the rights of women held in the camps.

In line with this, the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection is collaborating with civil society organisations and relevant legal representatives to ensure the release of the alleged witches currently being camped.

The sector Minister, Nana Oye Lithur, said this at a mock presentation of Ghana's report on the convention on the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination Against Woman, CEDAW in Accra.

The report will be presented to the UN General Assembly.
