Parliament  pays  tribute to late former Takoradi MP Mrs Asmah

"She was a woman of substance", "she was a woman of integrity, and  a real mother". These and more are some of the testimonies from Members of Parliament as the House paid tribute to the late former MP for Takoradi, Mrs. Gladys Asmah.
 
The MP for Sekondi Paapa Owusu Ankomah in a statement on the life and legacy of the late stateswoman said she was a woman of many parts who dedicated her life in service to the course of the nation especially the wellbeing of women. 

He said Mrs. Asmah was a socially conscious woman who devoted her life to training women even before entering politics.

Born on the 16th of October 1939, the late Gladys Asmah served as MP for Takoradi from 1997 to 2009. 

Opening the floor with tributes to her memory, the MP for Sekondi Paapa Owusu Ankomah described the late Mrs Asmah as what he termed a Combative combatant who was robust in the articulation of her views. 

He said she will be remembered for her believes in mentorship.

The Deputy Majority Chief Whip and Chair of the Women caucus, Hajjia Mary Boforo said Mrs. Asmah believed in people and was unbiased in her approach to work.

The MP for Takoradi Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah said his predecessor has left a mark in the constituency. He praised her for being a visionary.

The MP for Asokwa, Patricia Appiagyei said Mrs. Asmah inspired many women to enter into politics. 

She underscored late Gladys Asmah’s disciplinary qualities.

The Deputy Majority Leader, Alfred Agbesi said, Mrs Asmah broke bounds in Parliament.

The Speaker of Parliament Edward Doe Adjaho saw Mrs Asmah as a great and principled woman

A minute’s silence was observed in her memory.
