Speaker recalls Parliament for Emergency Sitting

The Speaker of Parliament, Mr Edward Doe Adjaho, has summoned all the 275 members of the House for an emergency sitting.

It is unclear what the sitting today will consider.

Members have been asked to congregate at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).

A notice to that effect said the Speaker was summoning members based on Standing Order 38 of Parliament and Article 112 (3) of the 1992 Constitution.

The Sixth Parliament rose on Friday, July 18, 2014 and was scheduled to reassemble next month, later than the Speaker's recall date.
