President Mahama Cuts Sod For Upgrading And Expansion Of Tamale Airport

President John Mahama has cut sod for the beginning of work on the Upgrading and Expansion of the Tamale Airport into an International Airport. 

It is one of many infrastructure improvement projects of the government, and will be Ghana's second international airport when completed.

The airport which will be completed in September 2015 will be able to admit international flights. 

The project consists of the extension of the runway from the current 2,480 metres to 3,940 metres and the installation of lighting system to accommodate bigger aircrafts.

The project which is being carried out by Brazilian contractors, Queiroz Galvao, will cost $100-million.
