Ghana’s Current Economic Crisis is Surmountable- Chairman & CEO of Darko Farms

The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Darko Farms and Company, Rev. Dr. Kwabena Darko, says Ghana’s the current economic crisis facing the nation is transient and urged Ghanaians to stop talking and roll up their sleeves to work. 

The former flag bearer of the National Independence Party is worried that, there is too much despair and negativity in the nation, with too many people talking and offering no solution. 

Rev. Dr. Darko was speaking in an interview with Radio Ghana in Tamale on the sidelines of the 41st Annual General Meeting of the Ghana Institute of Linguistics, Literacy and Bible Translation (GILLBT). The meeting brought together delegates from all over the country and some partners from around the World.
 
The Manager of GILLBT, Peter Wangara, disclosed that the institute has translated the complete Bible into six Ghanaian languages since its inception in 1962. 

Over the same period, GILLBT translated the New Testament into 23 Ghanaian languages and remains the largest documenter of Ghanaian languages. 

He also revealed that, GILLBRT in collaboration with DFID has started Complementary Basic Education in parts of Northern Ghana, aimed at giving the opportunity to out-of school children the opportunity to be literate. Mr. Wangara added that, GILLBT has started a micro-credit scheme to support women to improve their livelihoods. 

He disclosed that, fifty thousand Ghana Cedis was disbursed to 200 women’s groups last year. A major constraint facing the institute currently is finance to complete its literacy projects.
 
Currently the institute is working on translating the New Testament into 17 languages, 9 of these languages are yet to receive sponsorship.
