This was manifested in the lives of friends, colleagues, family and children when death laid it's icy hands on GBC's Irene Asante. It came as a shock . Thursday May 17 was one of the saddest moments in show Business and especially the nations broadcaster GBC when news of Irene Asante went viral. The forty year old passed away at the 37 military hospital. Irene is an alumini of the Ghana Institute of journalism. She worked in the newsroom of GBC as a reporter before being transferred to the production department and became the presenter of GTV's movie chartroom. Showbiz icon Grace Omaboe popularly known as Maame Dokunu said though Irene has paid her dues and left a mark in the entertainment industry, God should have kept her a bit longer. For his part, Kofi Adjorlolo also in the movie industry thinks time waits for no one hence the need to execute whatever mandate one is given with all humility and dedication. A close associate of the deceased , Beinyiwa Addo said Irene was due to be married in august with plans far advanced towards the wedding. A Colleagues at the production department and another with sports said Irene's death came as a shock. Number four of eight siblings and obviously in shock and grieving over her daughter death, John Asante could only wish Irene well in her journey to the hereafter. Irene was the former wife of Tema based sound engineer and producer Edward Nana Opoku Osei with whom she had two sons aged eight and six. She had a stint in the movie industry when she played a role in a movie entitled a northern affair. GBC
