THE DAILY GRAPHIC:  discusses the Mid-Year Review of the 2014 Budget
presented by the Finance Minister Seth Terkper on the floor of
parliament. The paper quotes the sector minister as saying that the
economy is not in crisis. He said, although there are many challenges facing sectors of the economy, it's not on the brink of collapse. The paper notes that, it is not enough to dwell on figures, statistics and physical development to conclude that the economy is on the right path to recovery. The Graphic believes there is hope for the nation if
people work harder and sacrifice while leaders demonstrate good faith in the management of public resources.

THE GHANAIAN TIMES:  urges  government to intensify efforts to revamp the rail sector and ensure that  it is  well managed.  According to the paper the movement of goods and services as well as individuals is
important in the socio-economic development of any nation.  The Times says it has been acknowledged that the fastest means of movement of goods and services as well as individuals over long distances, is rail
transport which has been found to be convenient and suitable for
carrying heavy goods since its operation is least affected by  adverse weather conditions.  The paper maintains the rail sector has been relegated to the background adding that   governments continue to pay
lip-service to the railway sector as most of their promises to develop it and extend existing lines, go unfulfilled.  It therefore calls on the government to intensify efforts to attract the needed  investment to the sector, to address the bottlenecks that have led to the collapse of the railway system in the country.
