Argentina National Team Qualify For Quarter Finals A hard fought victory from the Argentina National team has seen them through to the quarter final stage after beating their European opponent Switzerland one-nil in Sao Paulo yesterday, in the on-going 2014 Brazil FIFA World Cup. The two time world champions Argentina struggled to put the ball at the back of their opponents net during full time play after wasting clear goal scoring opportunities. The Swiss who were described as under dogs in the encounter managed to push the game into extra time after 90 minutes of play without a goal being scored. The Swiss failed to contain the pressure from the Argentines as a teasing pass from Lionel Messi gave the Real Madrid Star, Angel Di Maria the chance to register his name on the score sheet in the 119th minute. In the last 1/16 game, the US failed to progress to the quarter final stage as they lost to the Belgium National team 2-1 during extra time. Kevin De Bruyne broke the deadlock in the 93rd minute and Romelu Lukaku added the second goal in the 105th minute, while Julian of US pulled one back in the 107th minute. Meanwhile the World Cup will take two days break before the quarter finals this Friday. France will clash with Germany while Brazil lock horns with Colombia in two South American debuts. On Saturday Argentina will take on Belgium and Holland face Costa Rica. Source : GBC
