President Mahama Congratulates Pope Benedict


President John Dramani Mahama has on behalf of the Government and People of Ghana congratulated Pope Francis on his assumption of the Papacy. 

A statement signed by the President noted that the impressive work of the Pope as a champion of the poor and the vulnerable inspires hope in millions of people around the world in these challenging and difficult times. 

President Mahama added that he and the Pope share common goals, including the need to fight poverty, advance world peace, and encourage respect for human dignity and interfaith dialogue for the betterment of humankind. 

He is therefore confident that the relations that exist between Ghana and the Vatican will be further strengthened under his wise leadership.
