Speaker Of Parliament Bemoans Over - Dependence Of Parliamentary Committees On MDA's The Speaker of Parliament, Edward Doe Adjaho has bemoaned the over-reliance of Parliamentary Committees on Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDA, in exercising their oversight responsibilities. He said it is not in the interest of the House and the people they represent to fall on the very MDAs whose budget estimates they are to scrutinize to be the ones facilitating such scrutiny. He likened the situation to the dictum which states that he who pays the piper calls the tune. Mr. Adjaho said this at the opening of a post-Budget Review Workshop for MPs at Koforidua in the Eastern Region. Meanwhile, expectations of MPs attending the Post-Budget Review Workshop at Koforidua are high. While some believe the exercise will help them in the 2013 Budget debate on the floor of the House, others especially the New MPs said the review will enhance their knowledge on the knitty-gritties of the financial policy to enable them to educate their constituents on the budget.
