Stammering treatment programme launched Total treatment is insight for stammers. A stammering treatment programme has been launched in Accra by Supreme Care, non governmental organisation to offer free treatment for sufferers of speech defect. Stammering a serious speech defect affecting many people especially children. Many people who stammer have been faced with challenges in their educational and social development due to lack of early treatment. In Ghana, some stammerers suffer stigmatization mainly because of what many term as their comic speech and funny communication behaviours. This has often led to constant fear, self pity and unfulfilled potentials. Currently, there is only one retired speech therapist serving both the Komfo Anokye and Korle Bu Teaching Hospitals.
