Ghana, China working to foster closer relations

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration Alhaji Mohammed Habib Tijani, has lauded Ghana's close relations and active political cooperation with China at all levels.

He said the relationship is anchored on the principles of positive neutrality, non-alignment, as well as the peaceful settlement of international disputes.

Alhaji Habib Tijani made this remarks at an Interactive Session with Chinese Foreign Service Officers in Accra.

Ghana and China established diplomatic relations as far back as 1960. The two subsequently signed a friendship treaty in 1961 which set the tone for a practical cooperation between both countries.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Alhaji Mohammed Habib Tijani, said the interactive session will create the platform for technocrats from both countries to share ideas to further strengthen the existing relations.

The Leader of the delegation and Ambassador of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, Zhou Yuxiao commended government for rolling out pro-poor policies such as the Planting for Food and Jobs, One-District one-Factory and the Free Senior High School

The delegation thanked the Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, Sun Baohong for facilitating their visit to the country.
