Slavery scandal overshadows EU-Africa summit

Cote d'Ivoire's President Alassane Ouattara has demanded action to combat migrant slave trading in Libya, as the issue dominated a Europe-Africa summit meant to focus on long-term growth and stability.
The Summit host, President Ouattara described slavery as a "wretched drama which recalls the worst hours of human history."
He appealed for urgent measures to end the practice.
French President Emmanuel Macron has proposed a crackdown on traffickers, and break up of smuggling rings as well as the evacuation of people in Libya migrant camps that are at risk of falling into the hands of slave traders.
