ICU 'embraces' decision to abolish taxes on minimum wages

The General Secretary of Industrial and Commercial Workers Union, (ICU), Solomon Kotei, has welcomed decision by government to abolish taxes on minimum wages.
The Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta, presenting the 2018 budget to parliament announced that next year's budget seeks to abolish all form of taxes on minimum wages.
Mr. Kotei said the promise made by government will reduce the suffering of workers in the past years when it comes to the payment of taxes.
He also commended the government for widening the tax net.
Mr. Kotei also said there is the need for government to come clear with the kind of jobs it intends to create for the teaming unemployed youth in the country.
