Gender and Development expert at the University of Cape Coast, Professor Akua Britwum says though remarkable strides have been made towards women and girls empowerment, there is still more room for improvement in the area of financial resources for women.

Speaking at the third in the series of colloquium of Nyansapo College in Accra, Prof. Britwum said though there may be pockets of challenges, she is optimistic that the gender empowerment envisioned in the AU's agenda 2063 would be achieved.

Director of Gender at the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr Comfort Asare said the Ministry is working out several initiatives to improve the lives of women and girls.

She mentioned the collection of data on head potters to identify their specific needs, and how to assist them and the girls- girls clubs ongoing in the various schools where girls are free to voice their concerns for help.
