Eight persons died while two others were injured in the floods that hit the Northern Region last month.

The National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) revealed this at a stakeholder’s engagement in Tamale today.

More than eleven thousand persons were displaced, two thousand acres of farms destroyed, while hundreds of livestock were carried away.

The Northern Regional Director of NADMO, Alhaji Abdullah Hindu, said the organization has completed its assessment but added that it is short of funds to respond adequately to the needs of victims.

NGOs in the region however say they are waiting for NADMO to furnish them with their needs to enable them respond appropriately.

Some Stakeholders including the NCCE Regional Director, Alhaji Abdul Razak Saani has also suggested the formation of a technical committee to support NADMO.
