The Chronicle describes yesterday’s accident at Tanoso near Techiman as a national tragedy since Ghana has not experienced any fuel-siphoning incident in recent times.  To the paper it is regrettable that despite the fuel-siphoning disasters in Nigeria, Ghanaians are still ignorant about the situation.  The Chronicle suggests that the Ministry of Information educates people to stay away from any fuel tanker which is involved in an accident such an education must be accompanied with video clips depicting similar situations so that people will feel its impact.

The Daily Guide writes on the Techiman petrol tanker blaze which claimed 25 lives and inflicting burns on others.  The paper says people living along the nation’s high-ways must be educated on the dangers in handling petrol wrongly.  It says with the country about to join the league of Petroleum producing countries there is the need to educate people on the dangers of mishandling inflammable items.  The Daily Guide says the gory spectacle of skulls and ashes of the remains of nations is heartbreaking and hopes it never happens again.

The Daily Searchlight also shares its view on the Techiman tragedy.  The paper attributes the incident to carelessness on the part of the tanker driver and also the ignorance of the victims.  The Searchlight believes the incident could have been avoided if the people had played their civic role of reporting the accident quickly to the authorities.  The paper urges government to set up an investigating body to delve into the incident to ensure that it does not recur.

The Accra Daily Mail commends the National Democratic Congress, NDC presidential candidate Prof. John Evans Atta Mills on his decision to hold peace talks with the New Patriotic Party, NPP.  The paper however condemns Ghanaians who are already doubting the election results even before a single vote has been cast.  The Accra Daily Mail suggests that it is the responsibility of all Ghanaians to expose individuals and other institutions who are trying to deny the country peace.

The Crusading Guide sympathises with the Convention Peoples Party, CPP Parliamentary candidate for Jomoro Samia Nkrumah who it says is the latest victim of 'shit bombing' in the political history of Ghana.  The paper condemns the act, describing the perpetration as political lunatics who abhor democracy and healthy political competition.  It encourages the daughter of the first president Samia Nkrumah not to give up the fight but rather be motivated to fight on.

The Ghanaian Times discourages Ghanaians against any power sharing idea.  The paper again warns against post-election violence since it retards the growth of a country.  It however suggests that if need be the government-elect choose some ministers from the opposing party.  This the paper believes will augur well for the development of the country.
