Miss Malaika Ghana 2008: Tamara Aku Dzormeku  
A beautiful 20 year old medical student of the University of Ghana, Tamara Aku Dzormeku was crowned Miss Malaika Ghana 2008 last Saturday at the National Theatre in Accra. As Miss Malaika, she will as a youth Ambassador in the fight against malaria for a year.

Tamara beat 9 other beautiful, intelligent and clever young ladies for the coveted crown. The contestants thrilled audiences with intelligent insights into social issues ranging from health to politics. Ghana’s upcoming general elections took centre stage of issues that were discussed on the night. There were also amazing musical performances from Tinny, Sidney, R2Bs, Okyeame and several others.

After several rounds of competition, including a talent segment and runway show, Tamara Aku Dzormeku, Yvonne Eyram Kofigah and Christabel Ekeh were selected as the top three. They were asked as common question about what the each considered the most important ingredient towards a peaceful election. Christabel answered love; Tamara chose respect; and Yvonne thought maturity on the part of Ghanaians would be the key. Based on their deliveries, Tamara was adjudged winner followed by Christabel and Yvonne.

For her prize, Tamara took home a brand new KIA saloon car, the prestigious Malaika crown, GHC 2,400 as well as other attractive prizes from sponsors. The runners-up took home GHC800 and GHC500 respectively as and other attractive prizes from sponsors.
