The Daily Graphic commends President Kufuor for inaugurating the 250 new buses for the private sector.  The paper believes the initiative will improve the capacity of private sector transport industry to provide safe and affordable transport services for the public.  The Graphic hopes the collaboration between the Yulong Company of China , Plant Pool, the ADB and the Ministry of Transportation will yield positive results leading to trade boom in the country.  The paper says to obtain maximum benefits parties in the partnership should improve on their work ethics, discipline and respect for road traffic regulations.

The Daily Guide is pleased about concerns raised by Catholic Bishops at their plenary meeting to discuss important issues about the country.  The paper says the Bishops spoke their minds when they stated that provocative remarks by politicians serve to raise the political temperature in the country.  The Daily Guide calls on all Ghanaians to join hands with the Catholic Church and others to say no to people who fan sentiments that have the tendency to inflame passions.

The Independent is confident that no Ghanaian will either encourage or join anyone who disturbs the peace within the country.  To the paper, the country has enjoyed peace till now and it is incumbent on Ghanaians to maintain the peace even after the elections.

The Chronicle supports a call that payment of premium for the NHIS be made flexible and cultural-friendly.  The paper thinks majority of Ghanaians who have not registered with the scheme do not have the financial means therefore introducing such flexible terms of payment will make it accessible to all.  The Chronicle suggests that Cocoa and Sheanut farmers enjoy free medical care which premium will be deducted at source during the harvest season.  It urges management of the scheme to consider this suggestion which it believes if implemented would be beneficial to all.
