Both the Daily Graphic and the Ghanaian Times write on the number of fatal accidents on our roads. The Daily Graphic is worried about the number of fatalities recorded in a single road accident saying most of the accidents are caused by human error.  The Graphic thinks the only way to stem the carnage on the roads is to review the process of licensing drivers especially, those who want to drive commercial vehicles.

To the paper, road accidents have become a big drain on the economy in terms of loss of lives and expenditure on the treatment of the injured.  The Graphic therefore calls on the government to institute an inquiry into the cause of the Techiman accident in order to establish and identify of members of the timber task force so that, they can face the full rigours of the law.

The Ghanaian Times says it is unfortunate that so many lives are being lost in very horrific accidents at a time that the roads are improving.  To the paper, with the improvement in the quality of roads, it is clear that most accident are caused by human error such as, reckless driving.

The Times urges the National Road Safety Commission to educate commercial drivers on safe driving as a national crusade.  It also calls on the MTTU to increase traffic patrols to deter recalcitrant drivers.
